DFAM Academy Privacy Statement

This statement explains how DFAM Academy handles information when you visit the site, sign in, configure a company curriculum, or analyze additive manufacturing model files.

Effective date: May 26, 2026

Summary

DFAM Academy is a training and planning website for design for additive manufacturing. We use limited information to operate the site, support authentication, remember browser-local settings, and help users generate curriculum and part-readiness outputs.

Information We Handle

Depending on how you use the site, we may handle:

  • Account and sign-in information processed through Clerk, such as email address, authentication provider, and session status.
  • Aggregate, cookieless usage measurement from Cloudflare Web Analytics, such as page views, referrers, and general device/browser type. This is collected without cookies and is not used to identify individual visitors.
  • Browser-local state used by the site demo, such as demo sign-in status stored in localStorage.
  • Curriculum configuration details you enter into the admin planner, such as company name, industry, selected processes, machine setup, compliance emphasis, seat counts, and generated training summaries.
  • Uploaded model metadata and geometry measurements used by the part analyzers, such as file name, file size, dimensions, triangle count, and process-readiness results.

How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Operate the website and authentication flows.
  • Provide DFAM calculators, quizzes, curriculum planning, and model analysis features.
  • Improve site content, user experience, and performance.
  • Maintain security, debug errors, and prevent misuse.
  • Support business communications when a company requests access or training configuration.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use uploaded model files to train AI models.

Service Providers

DFAM Academy uses third-party services that may process data under their own terms and privacy notices:

  • Clerk for authentication, account creation, social sign-in, session management, and password reset flows.
  • Cloudflare Web Analytics for privacy-friendly, cookieless website traffic measurement.
  • CDN and font providers for scripts, styles, fonts, and browser assets used to render the site.

Model File Handling

The STL, STEP, OBJ, and 3MF analysis tools are designed to parse files in your browser. The site computes geometry measurements and recommendations locally in the page. Model files are not intentionally uploaded to a DFAM Academy server by these analyzer features.

You should avoid uploading confidential, export-controlled, or regulated model files unless your organization has approved that use. Browser extensions, security tools, analytics tooling, network logs, or future integrations may affect how your environment handles files.

Browser Storage

DFAM Academy uses localStorage to remember demo sign-in state and saved admin curriculum plans. This data stays in your browser unless you clear it or your browser syncs it through settings outside our control.

Your Choices

  • You can clear browser-local DFAM Academy data from your browser settings.
  • You can use browser privacy controls or extensions to limit cookies and browser storage.
  • You can sign out of your DFAM Academy account from the site when authentication is enabled.
  • You can avoid entering sensitive company information into prototype planning tools unless your organization has approved it.

Retention

Browser-local data remains on your device until cleared. Account, authentication, hosting, and security records may be kept by the relevant service providers according to their retention settings and legal obligations.

Children

DFAM Academy is intended for professional training and business use. It is not directed to children.

Changes

We may update this statement as the site, integrations, or legal requirements change. The effective date above reflects the latest published version.
